Beautiful Crayon Figures by Diem Chau
Her family came to America as refugees in the 1980’s. Chau’s beautiful crayon art speaks for itself and every piece says a story in itself. One of her best work is the entire zodiac collection made from these normal crayons. Her style of bringing together a simple element like the crayon into an exotic piece of art is outstanding.
She is a graduate of the Cornish College and she has also received the Artist Trust GAP Grant. The PONCHO Artist in Residence award was also awarded to her. The intricate carving that she does to these color crayons are simplistic but also leave an impact on its viewer. People from all over have been trying to copy this kind of work but the detailing that she has managed to establish has not been matched by anyone as yet.
